Call for Submissions: Film/ Music Explosion!

This program is an annual part of the $100 Film Festival where three bands and three filmmakers are partnered to create a short film on Super 8, based on music by the individual bands.  Each film premieres as the nightly kick-off of the $100 Film Festival, with live musical accompaniment.

Musicians Submissions need -
1. One Song
2. A description of your band/ group
3. Mailed or e-mailed to CSIF by Dec 1, 2020

Filmmakers Submissions need -

3.  When the music is released, you will submit a proposal based on the song you have chosen (max 1 page)
4.  Deadline for proposals is Jan 1, 2021

The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers presents:

The 19th Annual $100 Film Festival

- March 3-5, 2011

Deadline for Entries: December 1, 2010.

· 16mm or Super 8 Film under 22min

· MUST provide a 16mm or Super 8 film print for screening.

· Official Release date after December 1, 2020

 

The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers is pleased to present the annual $100 Film Festival from March 3-5, 2010. The festival embodies the spirit of low-budget, independent filmmaking and brings the experience of projected celluloid to our audience by only screening film prints. It is the only competitive festival in Canada that screens exclusively on Super 8 and 16mm film. The $100 Film Festival does not charge any entrance fees and pays artist fees for all films selected for the festival. The selected films will also be eligible for festival prizes.

    First off: it’s difficult to keep a movie this distinctive a secret, let alone a surprise. On top of that, I think it’s also the best quality 16mm print I’ve seen in the CSIF’s library to date. There’s an irony here about how well the film has aged, but I can’t tell you why just yet. But know this: there is a swimming pool, and it’s a key part of the story, though you’d probably never conjure it up otherwise. Oh, there’s comedy, drama, and plenty of Hollywoodisms (quite literally), too—but more importantly, healthy doses of subtle social commentary, outstanding writing, and memorable characters! It might also have been nominated for every Oscar ever, so at the end of the day, I have a hunch you’ll
